Lightweight Travel Pushchairs - my current favourites

You don’t need to be on Instagram looking at baby products for long before seeing a reel of someone closing a lightweight pushchair at lightning speed, or fitting them into the boot of a little hatchback car with ease!! It seems like we can’t get enough of them and I can see why.

Typically your first travel purchase for your new baby will be a fairly large travel system; a pram that converts into a pushchair. Usually you can plug your car seat directly onto the chassis too; great for quick trips if they’ve fallen asleep in the car*. But as your child gets older, often people find that a smaller second pushchair is helpful as well.

Why get a lightweight pushchair?

Travel systems are still brilliant for walks and longer days out with older babies. However, having something smaller as a second pushchair can be a great option too.

These compact pushchairs are fantastic for having in the back of the car. Small enough to leave you boot space for your shopping but comfy enough to keep your little one happy when you’re out and about. Many are also suitable from birth, giving you a great second option if you don’t want to take your larger pram or travel system out with you for the day.

They are also a perfect option to take on holiday with you. So many fold down neatly enough to be brought onto the plane as carry on luggage.

Design and innovation in this group of pushchairs is moving fast. Here is a selection of my current favourites, all of which are airplane cabin friendly**.

* It is recommended that babies are not kept in their carseats for more than 2 hours at a time, and newborns ideally no more than 30 minutes at a time. If you are going to be out and about for a longer, it is best to transfer your baby to the pram or pushchair unit of your travel system.

** Cabin luggage standards may vary depending on the airline, it is always a good idea to check with your airline for the latest applicable cabin luggage allowance.
